Duration: 4 hours Michael Fagan, Workshop Outline:
Target audience: IT professionals, Software Engineers, Requirement Writers, Project and Line Managers, Integration and Testing Professionals, System Analysts, Quality Assurance Analysts and etc. The Fagan Inspection Process The “Fagan Inspection Process” is as relevant and important today as it was thirty years ago, perhaps even more so. With systems growing ever more complex and a shortage of resource with which to develop them, its benefits of are even more attractive. Applied and executed as intended, it produces significant improvements to the software development process, including schedule and cost reduction, productivity improvements, and fewer customer-reported defects. Nothing will be more satisfying in the future than to find the “Fagan Defect-Free Process” including Fagan Inspections, in increasingly widespread use not only in the software world, but also in other areas in which more diverse products and services are created. I have, and will continue to work towards that goal. The Fagan Defect-Free Process Michael Fagan initially created the software inspection process for the purposes of reducing the number of defects that reach users, removing defects before testing so as to lessen the workload on overburdened testing operations, and making development projects both measurable and manageable. As the industry has accepted and began implementing his well-known Fagan Inspection Process, Michael has realized that additional elements (that he had also put in place in his organization) are also required for successful implementation of this method. So, he created the Fagan Defect-Free Process - the only complete process that includes the necessary infrastructure to establish and maintain a defect-free process! This process is composed of three interdependent components:
